The Zone 2 Police Command, Lagos State, has captured a pack of furnished looters which purportedly seized trucks at gunpoint in various parts of Ondo, Oyo, Ogun and Lagos states.
PUNCH Metro learnt that among the seven suspects was a 54-year-old grandma, Bola Ajayi, who was caught in the Ilupeju zone of Lagos State for supposedly getting a portion of the stolen products.
Our reporter assembled that the pack individuals were captured by agents connected to the zonal summon on Monday, August 1.
The other six suspects are Olanrewaju Gbadamosi, 33; Lukman Akinola, 33; Dele Rotimi, 37; Taiwo Olabode, 38; Uche Anthony, 27; and Taiwo Ayodele, 27.
The police said the posse individuals were caught at around 10am while purportedly on a burglary operation at an inn in Ore, Ondo State.
Two privately made firearms and one sham weapon were recouped from them.
Talking with PUNCH Metro while being paraded at the zonal central station, Ajayi, who hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State, denied knowing the pack individuals.
She said, "I don't have a clue about any of these posse individuals. Without a doubt I purchased around 100 containers of beverages from Lanre's dad (Gbadamosi).
That was in April 2015. I didn't know the merchandise were stolen. The man was my companion's significant other.
It was the man who said he had a few merchandise to offer and I paid him. I can't review the amount I paid for the containers.
I have never met his child or any of these individuals. I have youngsters and grandchildren; I can't loot."
Gbadamosi said he had taken part in two theft operations, including that he had apologized.
He said, "I am not the ring pioneer. Be that as it may, when the police captured me, I got to be calm. I was the person who drove police agents to capture the others.
I had gone to loot on only two events. I can't say the amount I made. I was into board business some time recently. A companion acquainted me with seizing trucks and I made N300,000 on my first operation."
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2, Abdulmajid Ali, who paraded the pack, said examination was continuous.
He said, "The suspects were captured in Ore, Ondo State; Fiditi, Oyo State; and Ogijo, Ogun State.
The syndicate admitted to capturing and burglarizing around four trailers somewhere around 2015 and now.
They were likewise required in serial kidnappings in those states. Examination is in advancement and the suspects will soon show up in court.
